Aimery de Schoutheete has more than 35 years’ experience in business law at Liedekerke. He has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, with particular focus on distribution agreements and trading contracts for commodities, and in handling litigation and arbitration before the Belgian courts, foreign EU jurisdictions and both national and international arbitration tribunals. He has regularly been appointed as arbitrator in proceedings before the ICC and CEPANI, as sole arbitrator and as chair of the tribunal.

Aimery’s practice focuses on commercial distribution, natural resources (upstream and downstream), mining, petrochemical, commodities and agribusiness industries. He is a recognised specialist in distribution law. Between 2002 and 2014, he was a member of the editorial committee of the Revue de Droit Commercial, and he is currently a member of the peer review committee of the same publication. He is recognised as a specialist in the field of arbitration and was a member of the ICC task force on emergency arbitration. He is admitted on the lists of arbitrators of the ICC, CEPANI, the OHADA Arbitration Court, IDArb and the Swiss Chamber of Arbitration.

Aimery is the chair of Liedekerke Great Lakes, the firm’s subsidiary in Kigali, Rwanda, and of Liedekerke DRC, the firm’s subsidiary in Kinshasa, the Congo.
