Andrés A Mezgravis is a founding partner of Mezgravis & Asociados and head of the dispute resolution department. He is also a professor at Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in alternative dispute resolution. Andres has been involved as co-counsel in several cases of international investment arbitration and recently as lead counsel. He has also acted as an expert witness on Venezuelan law in various international arbitrations.Andrés A Mezgravis was the coordinator of the drafting committee of the Draft Rules of Conciliation and Arbitration of the Business Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (CEDCA), and president and co-founder of the Arbitration Committee of the Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VenAmCham/2000).He has been involved as co-counsel and recently as lead counsel in six different cases representing foreign investors against Venezuela before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID): Highbury International AVV/Ramstein Trading INC v Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, ICSID Case No. ARB/11/1, lead counsel, pending; Rusoro Mining Ltd v Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, ICSID Case No. ARB(AF)/12/5, co-counsel, pending; Brandes v Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, ICSID Case No. ARB/08/3, co-counsel; Mobil Corporation and others v Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, ICSID Case No. ARB/07/27, co-counsel until November 2009; Eni Dacion BV v Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, ICSID Case No. ARB/07/4, co-counsel. The parties reach a settlement and the proceedings were discontinued; Vestey Group Ltd v Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, ICSID Case No. ARB/06/4. Enforcement of the agreement reached by the parties is still pending.
