Anthony Charlton has more than 25 years of specialist experience in the quantification of damages claims in international commercial and investment treaty disputes, contentious valuations, expert determinations, shareholder and joint venture disputes, financial and fraud investigations, and other types of forensic accounting assignments. He has provided oral testimony on more than 30 occasions.

Anthony has acted or is acting as testifying expert in many investment treaty and commercial arbitration matters, involving claims ranging in value from US$3 million to over US$20 billion. He has also acted as tribunal-appointed expert, has testified in both English and French, and has presented testimony in matters before the French and Belgian domestic courts.

His experience covers many different industry sectors, including mining, resources, food and beverage, oil and gas, construction, real estate, infrastructure, aviation, aerospace and defence, TMT, energy, hotel and leisure, banking, media and materials. His practice is global in scope, although his most recent experience has focused on Africa, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, the CIS, continental Europe and the United Kingdom.

Anthony is listed as a Global Elite Thought Leader by Who’s Who Legal for commercial arbitration, which notes that he is ‘quite brilliant’ and that he is ‘one of the most highly respected experts in France’. He is also included in a number of other Who’s Who Legal listings, including for forensic accounting experts and construction. He was one of only 15 damages experts worldwide selected to appear in the Who’s Who Legal: Thought Leaders Arbitration 2017 and has been ever-present since.
