Dong Heon Chae is a partner of the International Arbitration and Litigation Practice Group of the firm. Mr Chae is also an arbitrator on the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Arbitration and ADR Commission, and a member of the ICC Korea International Arbitration Committee.Mr Chae is engaged in the ICC Banking Commission Working Group for the 6th UCP 600 (Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits) as a full member of the ICC Commission on Banking Technique and Practice. He is also a member of the ICC Commission on Commercial Law and Practice. He is the vice chairman of the International Finance Committee and an advisory member of the International Business Committee for the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.Mr Chae also advises clients on the Companies Act and on civil and criminal aspects of general corporate management. He has in-depth expertise and hands-on experience with matters related to capital markets, including securities and derivatives. He is also an expert in international capital transactions and international transportation issues. Prior to joining the firm, Mr Chae served as a judge advocate in the Republic of Korea Air Force and as a professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. He also served for nearly twenty years as a judge and chief judge at courts of all levels, including the Supreme Court.Mr Chae is a well-known commentator on commercial matters related to the Companies Act and capital markets, and he is quoted regularly in monthly journals published by the Korea Listed Companies Association. He is frequently invited to provide advisory services and lectures at public institutions related to capital markets, such as the Korea Exchange. Mr Chae has published books such as Corporation and Law, International Business and Law - Letters of Credit Case Comments and Securities and Law.
