US multinational 3M is pursuing an arbitration in London against AIG, accusing the insurer of wrongfully refusing to indemnify it for part of a US$6 billion settlement to end product liability litigation over its combat earplugs.

Singapore appeal court upholds DIAC interim relief

The Singapore Court of Appeal has upheld the enforcement of interim measures issued by a DIAC tribunal under an arbitration clause specifying the now-defunct DIFC-LCIA, finding that the respondent had submitted to the tribunal’s jurisdiction for the purposes of the interim relief application.

DIFC Courts address abolition of DIFC-LCIA

In the first case before the DIFC Courts to consider the abolition of the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre, a judge has continued an injunction restraining litigation filed in Sharjah in breach of an agreement to arbitrate at the defunct institution. Lawyers at Stephenson Harwood in Dubai, who acted for the successful claimant, report.
