Matthias Hofer is a principal associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Vienna.

Matthias specialises in intellectual property, unfair competition and tech law as well as complex dispute resolution. He is regularly in advising and representing clients in major projects, including advisory and transactional work and dispute resolution. He has represented clients in litigation and international arbitration proceedings under various procedural rules, in particular in the industrial, energy, and tech and telecom sectors, including in post M&A matters. He also acted as tribunal secretary.

Matthias regularly publishes in the field of IP, unfair competition and arbitration and teaches media and IP law at St Pölten University of Applied Sciences. He is also active in stakeholder and industry discussions on hot topics through his role as a member of the ICC’s Global IP Commission and co-head of the ICC’s task force on AI and IP.
