Wesley Pydiamah heads the international arbitration and public international law department of Eversheds Sutherland in Paris and co-leads the Africa group globally. His experience includes dozens of cases, mainly in the telecoms and energy sectors, where he has represented (including conducting the advocacy) governments, state entities and private multinational companies in proceedings before numerous institutional and ad hoc arbitral tribunals (ICSID, ICC, SIAC, PCA, LCIA, DIFC and UNCITRAL Rules). He also has significant experience in proceedings before the Iran–US Claims Tribunal and sits as arbitrator.
Wesley features in all leading directories and has been consistently listed by Global Arbitration Review and Who’s Who Legal as a Future Leader in International Arbitration (‘Wesley Pydiamah is a responsible, fast, accurate and responsive lawyer, singled out for his ability to develop a clear strategy in disputes’). In 2023, he featured among the 25 most influential lawyers in Jeune Afrique, the leading financial magazine on the continent, and Euromoney has repeatedly ranked him as one of 10 rising stars in international arbitration for France.
Wesley is a member of several arbitral organisations, is a founding member of AfricArb and serves on the advisory board of the MARC Court, the leading arbitral institution in Mauritius dedicated to resolving Africa-related disputes. He holds law degrees in international law from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University Paris Nanterre and is fluent in English and French. He is admitted to practise law in France.
